Perhaps it is only because we do not host or go to any Superbowl parties. However, we are here today with my annual not-watching the Superbowl game day. My normal activity for the day is… Avoiding the Super/Puppy/Ad Bowl
It is always great fun coming to Nationals Spring Training. For those of you who have never done so, I would recommend it (either for the Nationals if that is your favorite baseball team, or for whichever team is).
The weather is pretty nice, especially the further north you live, the pace is informal, the fields much smaller and intimate and the opportunity to run into players either at the game or in restaurants or similar locations much higher.
We flew down Wednesday morning. I actually had some business to transact for our first stop.
Nationals Spring Training Pilgrimage – Two Days Down, Two To Go
So I am happy to report for those who do not know (and for the vast majority who do not care) that the National Hockey League (NHL) will in fact have a hockey season for… Washington Capitals Hockey Is Back
I wrote about the Hockey Lockout earlier this month, https://www.ourownlittlecorner.com/2012/12/08/my-two-cents-about-the-hockey-lockout/. Sadly the lockout continues though there are some signs that it may be finally coming to an end. It seems to me that the fundamental… The NHL and Revenue Sharing
My spectator sports life normally has symmetry about it. Six months of the year I care about the Washington Nationals and six months of the year I care about the Washington Capitals. While I notice… My Two Cents About the Hockey Lockout
With the Washington Capitals having made the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Phrase “Off Center” means something a bit different than it might have a week ago. Regardless I had a great time recording Mark Amtower’s… Broadcast of My Interview w/Mark Amtower – Amtower Off Center
We started our penultimate day on our Nova Scotia adventure by going to the Cows manufacturing plant where they make cheese, most recently butter, and most important what is considered by a number of sources the best ice cream in the world, www.cows.ca.

We took the tour along with a number of other visitors, including four guys who were members of the Harley Davidson club in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They brought along with them their fake snake Chester. It turns out they hold a 50-50 raffle each meeting. The winner not only gets 50% of the money paid into the pot but they also get Chester who (which?) they are obligated to take around with them until the next meeting where they hopefully will not be a repeat winner.Ellen & Dan’s Excellent Adventure in Nova Scotia – Day 7
Ellen had long expressed an interest in visiting Prince Edwards Island, the site of the Anne of Green Gables stories, and nearly Nova Scotia. I had always heard it was a very beautiful place to visit, the high’s were going to be in the 70’s, not the 90’s, and going would be consistent with my saying yes to as much as possible so Ellen would let me continue to go to Disneyworld once every two years.Ellen and Dan’s Excellent Adventure in Nova Scotia – Day 1
